The Friends of St Peter and St Paul’s Church was set up as a charitable trust in March 2000, with the objective of ‘being used for the public benefit for the upkeep, repair, maintenance and improvement of the church and the churchyard.’

Since then, it has become a significant fundraising arm of the church community, arranging social and other activities which have brought enjoyment, fellowship and fun to its successes in securing much needed financial resources.

The trustees are currently engaged in a process of evaluation and review of the organizational structures, to ensure the Friends are facing the post-Covid environment as fully committed to the task as possible.

The Friends organised a wonderful concert in St Peter and St Paul’s Church towards the end of last year with the Hart Male Voice Choir. Tickets at £10 included fizz and nibbles during the interval and it was an evening of varied traditional male voice choir songs, songs from the shows, operatic pieces, folk songs and classic hymns. A magnificent sum in excess of £760 was raised.

The next venture is a competition for the best picture of the church to be printed on a Christmas card this year, which will also act as a fundraiser. Liz is on the lookout for either a suitable seasonal photo, or an original painting of the church and/or its surroundings, that can be printed up and sold with all proceeds going towards The Friends. Liz is looking forward to receiving your pictures, either by email or in person. The deadline is August so plenty of time to compose the ideal image. We will be offering a prize for the winning entry.
