Flower Festival

Bishop Andrew and Godalming Mayor, Anne Bott, visit the Flower Festival at St Mark's

A very successful Flower festival depicting “Anniverseries” has taken place at St. Mark’s Church and Community Centre, Ockford Ridge, Godalming, raising much needed funds for urgent roof repairs.

Milford U3A Friday Art Group contributed with a display of floral paintings set up by Jacky Tickner and Margaret Atkins. Eight local churches took part, along with community groups including  Ockford  Guides, Brownies and Rainbows; Godalming Flower Club, Smart Seniors Short Mat Bowls Group, Ockford Godalming Women’s Institute, Godalming Evening Townswomen’s Guild and Green Oak local school.

Charities represented were The Prostate Project and The Surrey Air Ambulance. Altogether 34 exhibits filled the Church and Community Centre.

Ploughman’s Lunches, Cream teas, ice creams, a tombola and raffle were well supported over the 2 days of the festival, which closed with a Songs of Praise Service arranged by Helen Roche and led by  the Rev. Canon Mervyn Roberts.

Altogether a happy and successful weekend!
