    The Parish of Godalming

    Where All Are Welcome

You are warmly welcomed to the Parish of Godalming. Christian prayer and worship has been celebrated here for over 1,000 years. Today we continue that tradition by offering a place of encounter with God with worship at its centre.

Being open to God’s love is at the heart of our understanding of faith. We aim to be an inclusive community that welcomes everyone on their journey and respects free thinking.

We have two churches in the parish, very different from one another but set within the heart of the communities we serve:

Saint Peter and St Paul's Church is in the centre of our beautiful town at the end of medieval Church Street. Overlooking the Lammas lands, the River Wey and the memorial park it is arguably one of the most attractive churches in the South East and is a popular venue for weddings and town celebrations. Though an ancient building dating back to the 9th century it is a living place for praise, prayer and reflection and is open every day of the week during daylight hours for you to visit. GU7 1ER

St Mark’s Church is a thriving community that serves the areas of Ockford Ridge, Aaron’s Hill and Primrose Hill. It is both a church and community centre and offers a modern, comfortable and flexible space for worship, fellowship and fun.

Our two churches offer a variety of Sunday worship styles so whether you appreciate choral evensong or enjoy cafe church we believe we have something for you. Whichever service you chose you will receive a warm welcome. We look forward to meeting you.

The notice sheet has information about events in the parish.  Find it on this page.

Reminder - there will be no Craft evening in April.

    A NEW RECTOR

We are very pleased to announce that a new Rector has been appointed for our Parish. The person appointed is the Reverend Jane Vlach who is currently the vicar at All Saints Church in our neighbouring Parish of Witley. Jane was ordained in 2011 and prior to moving to Witley she was at Holy Trinity Church, Guildford.

We cannot say at the moment when Jane will take up her ministry here in Godalming but we hope it will be sometime between early July and September.  We look forward to welcoming Jane to Godalming.

In the meantime our prayers are with Jane as she begins to prepare for her move to Godalming. Also we give thanks and prayers to the parishioners and PCC of All Saints Witley as they begin their quest for a replacement for Jane.

We would like to thank our parishioners and PCC for their long and continuing support during the interregnum. With special thanks to Sarah, our Administrator for her hard work on behalf of us all.

Willian Bryans and Eddie Powlesland (Churchwardens).
